Join Anne & Michael on the Ninth of July to celebrate their marriage

A little bit about the bride and groom

Anne yoga

Anne grew up in a log cabin in rural Pennsylvania with her parents Gene and Katherine Hause.  While she wasn't born a Texan, she got here as soon as she could!  She moved to South Texas for high school where she learned to love tacos and surfing.  In 2010, she moved to Houston to complete her master's degree in public health. Currently, she's working on her Ph.D. at Baylor College of Medicine developing a vaccine against RSV (a respiratory virus dangerous to babies and the elderly). She has a passion for global health and hopes to work internationally with underserved populations. Anne also loves travel, gardening, and yoga!

Michael

Michael is a native Texan and grew up in San Antonio with his brother, Ryan, and parents, Dan and Cynthia O'Connor.  After high school, he moved to Houston to attend Rice University and hasn't escaped yet!  Michael currently runs a software development consultancy building web and mobile applications for local non-profits, small businesses, and other clients.  He usually works from his couch in collaboration with the couple's Great Pyrenees dog, Bea.  Michael loves to travel and looks forward to living and working abroad.  He also enjoys photography and the outdoors (especially mountains!).

Our Story

Proposal

We met, like many modern couples, online. He wrote about his desire to join the Mongol Rally--a 10,000 mile journey through the mountains and deserts of Europe and Asia--and I thought, "that's my kind of guy!" We're big backpackers with a taste for high places, so it was fitting that Michael proposed on the  summit of Alta Peak in Sequoia National Park (with a thunderstorm moving in behind us!). The proposal was so natural, I didn't even realize that it was happening! We're always planning our next big expedition, so when he asked me to join him on the ultimate adventure, of course I said yes.
